Re-registering in the Netherlands

If you are returning to the Netherlands from abroad to live, you need to re-register. You can do this at our municipality if you will be residing in Uithoorn. Make an appointment with the Civil Affairs department by calling (0297) 513 111.

Description

If you used to live in the Netherlands and are now moving back from abroad, you need to register again at the municipality.

Did you move abroad before October 1994? In that case, you do not need to re-register. You will need to do an Initial registration in the Netherlands instead.

Conditions
  • If you moved abroad before October 1994, you need to do a "initial registration." Please refer to the information on Initial registration in the Netherlands
  • If you do not hold a European nationality: proof that the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) has approved your stay.
Costs

Re-registration is free of charge.

Term

You must visit the municipality within 5 working days of your arrival in the Netherlands.

Procedure

Here's how you can re-register in the Netherlands:

  • You need to go to the municipality in person. If your partner and/or children are also re-registering, they need to go in person as well.
